Black Ribbon John Ross Black Ribbon

JOHN ROSS, District Engineer – September 21, 1882 (#15)

(Chief Ross is also listed in several records of the time as the 3rd Assistant Chief.)  District Engineer John Ross was quartered at Engine Company No. 4, 122 Second Street.  After he was injured at a fire on September 19, he was taken to his firehouse to recover.  As a result of his injuries, he died there two days later.
